Featured Story SKS Emergency Support
The Harris Fire on Monday night, October 22, 2007 burned over Mt. San Miguel, home to San Diego UHF TV stations KNSD, KPBS, KSWB, and KUSI and radio station KPBS-FM and remote antenna controllers for KGTV, KFMB, and XETV. Live video from KNSD's tower camera showed the fire approaching, then cracking the lens from excessive heat. San Diego Gas & Electric's 230 kV line to the area failed, and telephone service went out, but most TV & FM stations on top were able to continue broadcasting using generators filled by SKS Petroleum Distributors.
Keep full routes were established by SKS for San Diego Gas and Electric Emergency Response crews to fuel 24 hour repair operations through out Santa Isabella, Ramona, Mt Miguel and Camp Pendleton. SKS made two deliveries within 90 minutes to fuel Rainbow Water District generators to power water supply pumps. At Qualcomm Stadium SKS Fuel Division delivered fuel to the Red Cross station refrigeration stations for food. SKS thanks the entire Fuel Delivery Team with special recognition of technicians Luis Torres, Oscar Vaca and Barry Ervin.
